Providing Solutions for Local and Offshore Entities

 

Julie is a member of the Institute of Directors and holder of their Certificate in Company Direction. She is currently serving as an independent director for a select number of international clients. She is seeking non-executive independent directorship positions with high quality entities offering challenging opportunities in companies where she can add value.

Some of Julie's directorships include several Bermuda and Cayman based investment funds as well as a Macquarie Bank private equity fund and co-investment fund specializing in infrastructure investments (since 2010).  Previous independent directorship positions have included other Macquarie Bank infrastructure funds, acting as an independent non-executive director for a licensed Bermuda trust company, a licensed corporate service provider company and a Bermuda law firm.  She is well known to the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

Julie is a retired partner in the corporate department of local law firm Cox Hallett Wilkinson.  While practicing Julie advised on a broad range of corporate finance transactions including private and public offerings, corporate structuring and restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and listings on local and international exchanges.  Her insurance experience includes establishing and advising a number of Class 2 and 3 Bermuda companies, as well as liquidations and shareholder representations.  She was called to the Bermuda Bar in 1995.

Prior to her partnership at Cox Hallett Wilkinson, Julie established Ernst and Young's law alliance practice EY Law and was a partner with Hollis & Co. (the local alliance entity).  While practicing Julie was ranked by Chambers Global World's Leading Lawyers as a leader in her field.  She also sat for eight years on the Board of the Legislative Change Committee of the Bermuda Development Agency's predecessor, BIBA.  She has a keen interest in education, having helped establish the Bermuda Bar Council's continuing legal education program.  She also sat on the board of the United World Colleges Bermuda National Committee.

Julie qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales and completed her training with Stephenson Harwood London. She attended Durham University, United Kingdom where she obtained a BA Hons (Law).  She is an alumnus of Lester B. Pearson United World College and Warwick Academy Bermuda.

Julie is a UK born Bermudian, residing on Island with her husband and two children.
